The above site is 40 pages long. In order to find guidelines on specific categories of problems like headache, neck, shoulder, low back, hip, knee, chronic pain, you will need to move half way down the site to page 20. The Quality of Evidence listed for each condtion has 4 levels. Level I is the highest level, Level IV is the weakest. Strength of recommendation is also listed for each condition and has 5 Grades: A is the highest, E is the least.
Some other conditions that respond well to EA that are treated in this office.
(EA is a form of acupuncture where the needles once placed at acupuncture points are then connected by way of aligator clips to certain of the needles. A small pulsed direct current (painless) is passed from the negative wire through the needles inbetween to the positive wire. The needle naturally generates small currents of healing, but the addition of this generator makes the treatment more effective.)
Sinusitis. Can cause severe, unrelenting headache in the back of the head and upper posterior neck that adjustments to your spine donot help. The cause of this pain is not migraine and it is not a neck problem. The pain is referred from the deep sinuses of the ethmoid and sphenoid, which lie very deep in the skull, unlike the frontal and maxillary sinuses, which lie superficial to the eyes and nose.
Not usual sinus pain. When these deep sinuses become congested, there is not the usual sinus pain in the front of the face and eyes. The pain is referred backward to the back of the head and neck. There may not be any stuffiness of the nose or other symptoms that would suggest a sinus problem. Mis-diagnosis is therefore common.
Medical treatment often ineffective. Patients with this problem have often been under medical treatment that has involved decongestants, analgesics, NSAIDS, and antibiotics, but the severe pain continues because these treatments fail to drain the deep cavity sinuses.
The Treatment. The treatment consists in using electric acupuncture (EA) that drains these deep sinuses within a few hours after treatment. Often a single treatment alone is required. We have treated patients who have struggled with this condition for weeks or months before receiving this effective procedure.
Usual Sinus Symptoms
The symptoms caused by congestion in the frontal and maxillary sinuses also respond well to EA.
Achilles Tendonitis
Runners, in particular, are prone to this problem. We have treated many cases effectively with EA.
Plantar Fascitis
This condition is one that usually comes on gradual over time and requires multiple treatments. But EA is effective treatment. Please note: needles in the feet cause pain getting through the thick skin. Once in place they are painless.
TMJ
Many cases of TMJ have been treated in this office effectively with acupuncture. In some cases a combination of ultra sound and acupuncture are used.
