Maia is the most powerful digital PEMF patented to date. It is built by Magna Wave for medical professionals. Maia is the only high powered PEMF machine in the US.

PEMF History

PEMF What is it?

Pulsed Electro-Magnetic Field therapy re-energizes your cells, like a battery charger. Every cell in your body carries an electrical surface membrane charge. The Maia machine pulses energy into your cells stimulating the spin of electrons to store energy that could last for up to three days. Your body’s electrical system controls your body chemistry. PEMF causes your body to increase the production of Nitric Oxide (NO). NO causes the arteries to enlarge, producing more blood oxygen and less viscosity (think Cialis). This also lowers your blood pressure.

The combined effects of PEMF therapy optimize:

1. Stress management that improves your emotional health by repairing brain cells damaged by your stress, which optimizes your brain function.

2. The circadian brain clock (SCN SupraChiasmatic Nucleus) in the hypothalamus which regulates the production of melatonin. This results in relaxation and optimal sleep, needed for cellular repair, required for optimal energy for the day ahead.
3. The spleen that provides optimal support for the immune system to fight infectious diseases. PEMF can optimize your defense system.
4. Your bone density and your joint function.
5. Your circulatory system as described above.

How are Treatments Administered?

Treatments are usually given laying on back, stomach or sides, but can also be given seated or even standing, if necessary. The energy passes through clothing. No disrobing is necessary. Treatments are comfortable and brief, 10 minutes is usual The patient will hear a clicking at each impulse. The treatments are safe. (However, pregnant women, people with pacemakers or other battery operated implanted stimulators would not be treated.) Since the therapy increases cellular functions, not only is the cell more permeable to the good metabolites coming into the cell, but also toxins leaving the cell. This cleanses the cell. The patient needs to increase water consumption to wash these toxins quickly away. Failure to do this may result in headache or malaise until they leave the body.

How Does PEMF Therapy Fit into A Chiropractic Office?

PEMF therapy expands the parameters of treatment. It removes the pain of inflammation quickly as you begin to heal. It also relaxes tight muscles. Those two effects allows joint manipulation to be done more easily. Many problems are now treatable in our office, like bone healing, anxiety, urinary incontinence, improvement of memory and brain function, cancer prevention and many other issues of wellness. We will issue more studies on social media in the future to better answer this question.

PEMF and Discogenic Lumbar Radiculopathy

A double-blind study Evaluation of pulsed electromagnetic field therapy in the management of patients with discogenic lumbar radiculopathy

International Journal of Rheumatic Diseases Aziza Sayed Omar, Magdy Ahmed Awadalla, Maii Abd El-Latif First published: 22 October 2012

Abstract: Aim This randomized clinical trial was designed to evaluate the effect of pulsed electromagnetic field therapy (PEMF) in the management of patients with discogenic lumbar radiculopathy. Methods Forty patients suffering from lumbar radiculopathy due to lumbar disc prolapse were randomly assigned to one of two groups: a study group that included 20 patients who received PEMF therapy and a control group that included 20 patients who received the placebo treatment. Both groups were evaluated at baseline and after 3 weeks by using a visual analogue scale (VAS) (0–10), somatosensory evoked potentials (SSEPs) for selected dermatomes and Modified Oswestry Low Back Pain Disability Questionnaire (OSW), and findings were compared before and after treatment. Conclusion PEMF therapy is an effective method for the conservative treatment of lumbar radiculopathy caused by lumbar disc prolapse. In addition to improvement of clinically observed radicular symptoms, PEMF also seems effective in reducing nerve root compression as evidenced by improvement of SSEP parameters after treatment.
